Blue Origin’s New Glenn Booster Lands Successfully for the First Time — Major Milestone for Reusable Rockets
Blue Origin Achieves Historic Booster Landing with New Glenn Rocket
In a landmark achievement for private spaceflight, Blue Origin has successfully landed the first-stage booster of its New Glenn rocket, marking the company’s first ever booster recovery for this model. The event took place on November 13, 2025, following a highly anticipated mission that carried NASA’s twin ESCAPADE spacecraft toward Mars.
A Big Win for Reusability
The first stage of New Glenn, powered by seven powerful BE-4 engines, made a controlled descent after stage separation. During the reentry, three of its engines reignited to slow the booster down, and it performed a propulsive vertical landing on a drone ship named “Jacklyn”, floating in the Atlantic Ocean.
This feat is especially noteworthy because it was achieved on only the second flight of the New Glenn rocket. Blue Origin’s CEO, Dave Limp, said in a statement that the team “achieved full mission success” and expressed pride in the booster nicknamed “Never Tell Me the Odds”.
